Webuje Water Falls

Church and nature
Today, our schedule included going to church and sightseeing. We agreed to leave around 9.00 a.m. but as so often happens in Kenya, the driver came to pick us up at 09.35 a.m.… We arrived at the Anglican Church, known as St. Crispin’s around 10.00 o’clock. First many hymns were sung and then we were asked to step forward and introduce ourselves to the church members. As soon as we said that we worked for a professional tomato producer, the vicar couldn’t resist asking us if we were willing to have a look at one of the church member’s tomato field after the service . Immediately after the service, we had lunch with the reverend and signed his guest book. The tomato field proved to be a beautiful greenhouse and more produce was grown next to the greenhouse: beetroot, celeriac and maize. The cultivation in the greenhouse was set up in a relatively modern way, with substrate (bags of compost) and high crop wires, which were used to tie-up the plants with string. Nevertheless, there does seem to be a lack of technical know-how regarding production and disease control. We therefore gave them our email address and some practical advice before continuing our travels.
Webuje Water Falls
After our visit to the greenhouse, we drove on to our final destination of today: the Webuje Water Falls. On the way, we stopped at an orphanage, which is supported by the local church. Here, after a brief introduction, we were also asked to have a quick look at their tomato culture and of course, we obliged. Once again, we noticed a lack of technical knowledge and once again, we provided the people with advice. At this location a good initiative has been set-up: orphaned children are provided with help in their education, whilst during the week they are placed as much as possible within the community. After our visit to this project, a rough off-road drive took us to the Webuje Water Falls, a beautiful place with greenery in abundance and 2 sizeable waterfalls.
Planning
Once back at the hotel, we prepared ourselves for the visits of the CBO committees from Cheptais and our field trips to the farmers in Chemses and Kapkoto. We are already looking forward to this!
A sweet little rabbit part II
As promised, we still have to tell you how our adventure with the dear little bunny rabbit concluded. The rabbit was served in portions with vegetables, rice and chapatti and tasted truly awesome!

Kościół i przyroda
Dzisiaj w programie mieliśmy wyjście do kościoła i zwiedzanie.
Został on mianowicie podany z warzywami, ryżem i chapati – smakował naprawdę fantastycznie!
